Our Cat Zelda

Yes, my husband named our cat after one of his favorite childhood video games. Yes, Zelda was actually the princess, and Link was actually the little green guy setting out to rescue her. I figured if I let Dan name the cat, maybe he would a) like the cat more and b) let me pick all of our children's names in the future.


Here is a little bio on our new cat from the shelter:
For the past 4 months we've had Zelda, she has meowed obnoxiously throughout the night due to loneliness or boredom. If we let her stay upstairs with us overnight she walks all over us, headbutts us in the face, or drops things on the bed for us to play with her with. If we do not respond appropriately, she howls loudly until we wake up and pet her. You may be wondering why we own such a cat. Well, here are a couple reasons...

1) While doing laundry in the basement last fall, a little mouse looked me right in the eye. Zelda arrived a few days later.
2) We discovered that she plays fetch like a dog! Seriously. She races after things we throw and she brings it back to us in her mouth until we throw it again.
3) Apparently her last owners were in the circus or something, because she climbs full size ladders to play with a string/toy, knocks it off with her paw, and then catches it in the air in her mouth while jumping down!

4) She plays with anything that moves. My eyelashes were once the object of her playfulness. Thankfully, we had her declawed a few days earlier!
