Norah: 9 Months

9(.5) Months! At least she's small so we can pretend she isn't growing up so fast! It's been a big month in our family, with moving to a new home as well as new milestones for Norah. Here's a bit of a recap. For a quick read, just skim the words in bold :)

* Now that we are in a new house with more bedrooms, Norah is finally out of our bedroom and in her own room (and crib!)!
* For the past few weeks, she has slept between 6 and 12 hour stretches at night! (With teething it's closer to 6 :) It's a miracle. This alone makes me love our new house.
* Norah is crawling more on her hands and knees, though she still likes to try out different ways of scooting around on her belly. She also learned to pull herself into a crawling position from sitting, which means I can't keep her stationary so easily anymore.
* She is also climbing and pulling herself up (using couches, fireplace bricks, steps, people, etc) into a standing position! She falls over a lot, cries, and then does it all over again immediately. Very determined.
* She is pretty much down to 2 naps a day now, first around 8:30 or 9am and the second around noon or 1pm. Then bedtime is between 6 and 6:30pm and she wakes between 6:30 and 7:30am!
* She worked incredibly hard to get one top tooth in about a week or so ago, right after she turned 9 months! Now she has 3 teeth.
* On her 9 month birthday, she finally decided to roll over from her back to tummy for the first time!
* We've introduced solids very slowly with Norah but now she is very enthusiastic about trying new foods! She feeds herself bananas, scrambled egg yolks, avocado, peas, sweet potato, watermelon, chicken, and toast with coconut oil so far. She still nurses every 3-4 hours or so during the day, as well.
* We've noticed that whenever there is music playing, especially if she's in church with us, she loves to sing along. So sweet!
* She is developing her own little sense of humor, which is fun to see. She started offering her paci to us, by taking it out of her mouth (with a little smirk) and trying to shove it in ours, and then laughing so hard when we pretend to eat it.
* One of my favorite new skills Norah developed this month is waving! It's so adorable and I need to capture it on video.
* She said her first words associated with meaning, at least: "Mama" and "Dada!" She now says them while looking at the correct person. So fun!
* Because she is crawling all over the place, she puts everything in her mouth...no matter how much I clean the floors, she finds something she should not have and puts it in her mouth as fast as possible, then grins at me with clenched teeth when I try to look inside her mouth and rescue her from whatever it is. I'm not super fond of this stage.
* She loves her big brother, and wishes he would not be so threatened by her new skill of crawling...even if it is in the direction of his toys. In the words of Charlie, "Sharing is really hard."

Stats: 16 lbs 6 oz.  26" long.  Wears 6 and 6-9 month clothing.  Tiny little girl with chunky thighs. Love her.
