40 Weeks and 5 Days
Yep. Still here and still pregnant at 40 weeks and 5 days along. I was fully prepared to go past my due date because that's pretty typical for first time babies. I even read somewhere that 80% of first time moms give birth in the week after their due date (if allowed to). One article said the average was at 40 weeks and 5 days...today! So, praying hard about that one :) Many of you have asked how I'm feeling and up until now I've said, "pretty good!" but the past few days have been a bit more uncomfortable- to the point where if I have any pain in braxton hicks contractions I get really excited that labor may be coming. That's a weird thing to get excited when you feel pain. Not normal, and really gives you an idea of how ready pregnant women are to be done being pregnant by this point! I guess it's just more of an incentive to push your baby out when you are so uncomfortable and just want it to be over.
Had an appointment yesterday and was hooked up to a monitor that measured the baby's heartrate and any contractions (this is called a non-stress test). Was there for about an hour and a half because silly Baby was so stinkin' active his heartrate was up in the 180s! (Normally in the 150s). It was kind of humorous, because they gave me this little clicker to push everytime I felt him move or kick. Let's just say my thumb got sore and they ended up taking it away from me for the second half because they could tell he was active enough. They had me turn over to my other side to see if he calmed down any and he did somewhat. Finally they let me leave and said all looked good. We have an ultrasound on Wednesday to check amniotic fluid levels, etc and then another non-stress test appt. at the clinic next Friday (41 weeks, 4 days). Then they will talk induction by 2 weeks overdue, which I'm not excited about in the least. Please pray with us that Baby will come on his own before then (by Dec 6). Thanks!
*I wonder if there's something bigger than a watermelon that Baby should now be compared to at now almost 41 weeks... :)
