...the arrival of
Charlie Jude Schmidt, born Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 4:09pm, weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring 21 and 3/4 inches long!
Charlie means
“strong and free man.”
Jude means
“praise” or “thanks.”
We named our little boy Charlie Jude because we pray that he would indeed grow into a strong man of God, a free man in Christ, and that he would praise the Lord all the days of his life. We are also honored to name him after his little cousin Jude who went to be with Jesus in November 2009.
After a long 24 hour natural labor and delivery (only by the grace of God), little Charlie has joined our family and we are absolutely in love with him! Charlie is now one week old (can't believe it!) and he is still learning to adjust to the outside world. He is already a strong little man and was able to lift and hold his head up by himself by day 2! Guess that's what happens when you cook for 10 extra days in the womb :) He also semi-crawls/scoots on his tummy...he sure is active! Right now it seems he only eats, sleeps, and cries, but occasionally we get a look at his beautiful (temporarily I'm sure) blue eyes simply looking around. Since birth he has had a need to suck on something 24/7, so our fingers are pretty much nerve-damaged by now. Pacifier, here we come. Charlie is so stinkin adorable when he sleeps and can pretty much sleep through any noise (definitely did NOT get that from Dan...). Here are some baby pictures of me and Dan so you can compare...I see us both in him, but definitely Dan. What do you think?

We are so thankful for this new little life we've been entrusted with. Can't wait for you to meet him!

This is terrific! You might post the pic you sent me in the moses basket of Charlie sleeping last nite next to Dan's sleeping pic. He is a great mix of you both and has changed his looks already in a week don't you think?
