Juice Fast: Day Ten
We made it! Wow, that was a long ten days, but so glad we finished it out, even if modified (with the added seeds/nuts for protein/fat). We ended up losing about 7 pounds each and three inches around our waists! We haven't been as tired as before the fast, and haven't once had that, "ugh, I feel gross" feeling that comes after eating, well, gross food. Our energy/mood levels went from 6-7's to 9-10's (on a scale of 1-10, 1 feeling worst, 10 feeling best). Now that we've finished it, we can say we're glad we did it. Not only do we feel better, but we know that we gave our bodies a kick-start in health, immunity, and a much needed clean-out. We probably won't attempt the 10 day fast again anytime soon, but we are up for doing a periodic 3-5 day fast in the future. We would definitely recommend watching the film that inspired this fast: "Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead" and doing a juice fast of your own!
Here's where I have to thank my incredibly sweet husband for being willing to not only allow us to spend the money to attempt the fast, but agreeing to do it with me! You have to understand, Dan does not like or eat vegetables other than carrots, green beans, spinach, & corn. So this was huge for him! It helped that the texture problem was eliminated, but still, drinking raw veggie juice for someone who doesn't like veggies in general? I have such a supportive husband, and I'm so thankful for him!
So, you may be wondering what our first "real" foods were. Since we were at small group last night, we had some yummy quinoa and raw veggie salad and some homemade pizza! It was absolutely delicious! :) Today we're going to have some coconut curry (w/lime & cilantro) chicken soup. One of my favorites!
